FSU Affiliated Cases and Contact Tracing

The FSU SAFER Program (Secure Assessment for FSU Exposure Response) receives data from multiple sources. FSU Affiliates include students, faculty, and staff who test positive for COVID-19. These data reflect testing both on campus and through external labs.

There may be a delay in receiving reports. The information provided reflects the most recent reports provided.

By law, doctors and labs must report positive cases to public health authorities. In Florida, this means the Florida Department of Health which shares reports with Florida State University. We use this information as one way of identifying close contacts. To reduce risk of reidentification, dates with less than 10 cases will be redacted.

The Department of Health does not report negative COVID-19 test results. We cannot calculate a positivity rate with any data set except our on-campus testing lab. The positivity rate displayed on this page is based solely on our on-campus testing efforts.

Estimated Currently in Isolation or Quarantine

*Estimated numbers are based on clearance guidelines from the CDC for 5 days of isolation (minimum) from the date of test for positive cases and 5 days of quarantine for close contacts. Actual recovery times may vary.
**This includes vaccinated and boosted individuals who do not meet quarantine criteria but are monitoring for symptoms while asymptomatic.

Dashboard counts in isolation and quarantine were updated Jan 4th, 2022, following the CDC isolation and quarantine guidelines which were released on Dec 27th, 2021.

Confidentiality

Privacy laws prohibit us from sharing COVID-19 status unless a person allows us to do so. Anyone who tests positive will be isolated, and anyone believed to be at risk of exposure will be contacted and asked to self-quarantine.
